After their successful Limited Edition release in December 2021, the Thomas Connolly Heritage Pub and Lough Gill Distillery have teamed up again for another special Single Cask release, in partnership with Athrú.
A nod to their heritage of bottling fine whiskey and porter, this incredible Single Malt Irish whiskey has been matured in three different casks – bourbon, oloroso and finished in an Imperial stout. It combines roasted smokiness with intense & complex flavours of imperial stout, released from the rich flavours of the wood, leading to an incredibly long warm finish combining rounded fruit notes with caramel sweetness.
Cask Type: Bourbon, Oloroso and Imperial Stout Cask.
Bottled: Feb 2022.
Colour: Rich Dark Amber.
Nose: Deep dried fruit oloroso notes seamlessly lead into rich bitter stout aromas, black coffee with dark chocolate bring a sweet sticky toffee pudding finish.
Taste: dried fruit warmth of raisin and dates comes in waves with a bitter chocolate note at the back of the throat, the sweetness of the nose has made way for the rich roasted notes associated with rich imperial stout.
Finish: The incredibly long warming finish combines raisins and praline with caramel sweetness.
Retailing at €95 with a 47% ABV and with an allocation of 340 bottles – this release isn’t going to hang around long!
Available now on Pre-Order, the whiskey can be collected directly from their heritage pub from the 16th of March 2022, with national and international delivery options also available.
